SZTE-Szedeák
Szedeák was founded in 1992, with the backbone of our team consisting of students from Szeged, based at the Deák Ferenc Gymnasium. By 1995, our association was already playing in NB I B, supplemented by players from Szegedi Postás. At the beginning of the 2000s, we spent two seasons in NB I A, and since 2010, we have maintained our membership at the highest level. In the 2020/21 championship, our team finished in third place, achieving the best result in the history of men’s basketball in Szeged. After winning the bronze medal in the championship, we added a sensational Hungarian Cup silver medal to our trophy cabinet, and Szedeák made it to the playoffs for two consecutive years. In the 2023/24 season, we again reached the Hungarian Cup final four, where we knocked out the reigning champions in the first match and ended the series with another silver medal.

SZTE-Szedeák
One of our team’s greatest values is training young talent. Over the past 33 years, we have always placed great emphasis on training and supporting young talent in Szeged. In 2005, we had to choose between maintaining our youth program or our adult team with our existing resources. We chose the future, and it was the right decision. Based on the productivity index of the Hungarian Basketball Association, Szedeák is one of the best youth training centers in Hungary. Thanks to our dedicated program, we introduce basketball to nearly 300 elementary school children every year.
